Back Track National Positive Return for First Lady

Positive Return for First Lady

Pretoria – The weekend saw Clare Vale return to the national WesBank Super Series with a positive performance. Her Gatorback RAM Mustang has been kept in the proverbial mothballs this season and coming back for this event showed that she still has plenty of pace, and there will be more to come from the First Lady. Qualifying saw her come in 12th but she definitely felt that she could get more time out of her Mustang.

Race one saw Clare climb up to 10th before understeer moved her down to 12th once again. Some drastic changes were made between the two races and she started the second race 2nd in the inverted grid. The changes paid dividends and Clare finished in a charging 5th place. If not for an incident in the hairpin where Franco di Matteo tried making it three wide through the corner she may have well finished even higher.  The incident saw some damage to her car that luckily didn’t end her race but merely slowed her momentarily. Clare’s times were good, and she relished driving her WesBank V8 Supercar again.

Clare Vale on the race, “I’ve really missed racing our Gatorback RAM Mustang and enjoyed every minute of the weekend at Zwartkops. As we are not racing for a Championship this year, we were able to take some risks as far as setup went and the handling of the car improved with every session. The Team worked hard all weekend and did a great job – a huge thank you to them and all our sponsors for making this come back possible.”
