UTC National Supermoto – D Day at Vereeniging

The final round of the UTC SA National Supermoto Championship takes place at the Bridgestone Adrenalin Raceway in Vereeniging on Saturday 8th October 2011.

With National Championship titles still to be decided in four different classes, the racing promises to be fast and furious with absolutely no holds barred.

The 2011 Supermoto season has been one of the most closely contested seasons of racing seen for a long time. Despite the recession, the sport continues to grow from strength to strength with fields growing with every race meeting.

In the S3 Ladies class Cindy Porobich (UTC Kawasaki) has won the 3rd title of her career. She is undefeated this year in the Ladies class and if she wins her last two heats she will have set an amazing record that will stand for years to come.

Marco Ras (UTC Kawasaki) has successfully defended the S4 Junior class title that he won for the first time last year. In 2012 he will be stepping up from the 85cc bike on to a 250cc motorcycle to challenge some of the older riders.

Anton Blignaut (Honda) has beaten all the older riders and takes the Grand Masters class title.

The Premier S1 class has ended up as a two horse race with championship leader Michael Kok (Honda ) holding a clear advantage over current champion Brian Capper (Full Throttle/KTM). Racing is unpredictable and the championship is not over till the last heat is run...

Brian Capper is points leader in the highly competitive All Tar class but has both Brett Bircher (Mr Price Yamaha) and Doug Lang (Honda West Rand) breathing down his neck. The last two heats of the season promise to provide some of the best racing of the day on a circuit that is very difficult to pass on.

Virtually every heat in this years' S3 Mens championship has had some surprises as the Kamikaze kids battle it out for the title. To give an indication as to how competitive this class is, there have been 5 different race winners this year. As things stand at the moment Kyle Brummer (UTC Kawasaki) holds a very slender points lead over Rudolf Botha (Full Throttle Kawasaki) and Michael Morgan (Monster Motors Yamaha).

Last but not least, only 6 points separate multiple SA champion Wayne Smith(Kleva Kleen Honda) and Doug Lang in the Masters Class. Just because they are older does not necessarily mean they are slower... This class can also throw up a few surprises on the day.

Be sure to get to Vereeniging on Saturday 8th October to witness some superb racing.
