LupiniPower is taking orders on its 110kWFord Fiesta 1.6.The Lupini Fiesta is available as a new car on special order via Lazarus Ford, where a limited number of cars are being offered at vey special prices or the optionscan be applied to any existing current model Fiesta 1.6.

LupiniPower set a stiff benchmark for its newFiesta package – it had to be quicker and faster than the legendary 1986 Lupini Ford Laser – not an easy task considering that today’s cars are a quarter heavier than they were then. But Lupini has met those performance expectations following a comprehensive 6-month development program.

The Lupini car accelerates to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds with maximum speed up to 202km/h compared to a standard Fiesta 1.6’s 9.9-seconds and 193km/h. The Lupini Fiesta also pips the Lupini Laser as originally tested in Car magazine at 8.7 to 100km/h and 195km/h.

“We built our reputation on the old Lupini Laser,” CEO Michele Lupini explains. “Fiesta is considerably heavier than the Laser was, but still we set outto beat the Lupini Laser with our new Lupini Fiesta. So we’re delighted that our comprehensive development program has presented a Fiesta that’s not just quicker than our old Laser, but perhaps more significantly, it delivers the same giant-beating bargain thrills that the Lupini Laser did.”

The Lupini Fiesta produces 110kW at 6000rpm versus the standard car’s 88kW at 6000rpm. Torque climbs from 149Nm in the standard car to 175Nm at the same 4250rpm peak, whilefuel use and CO2 emissions are also improved in the Lupini Fiesta –overall petrol consumption is down to 5.7l/100km and carbon dioxide emissions drop to 137g/km.

Lupini gives the standard Fiesta a comprehensive engine makeover with modifications to camshafts and the cylinder head, while a branch manifold and free-flow exhaust system are fitted and the car’s ECUreprogrammed to optimise those underbonnet changes.Lupini then fits progressive rate coils and resets the vehicle’s chassis geometry for a more dynamic drive and a lower ride. Performance brake pads are fitted along with slotted discs.

Lupini offers 17” wheels and 205/40x17 rubber as an option to bring an even more dynamic edge to the car while also adding a little more meaning and purpose to its stance. Several cosmetic options including thequite sinister matt black wrapon the prototype are also available.

The Lupini Ford Fiesta comes complete with a comprehensive 3-year unlimited kilometre LupiniPlan warranty for complete performance peace of mind. Lupini’s special introductory deal sees a limited number of ready-to-roll Lupini Ford Fiestas available from Lazarus Ford at R199 900* for an Ambiente specification 110kW Lupini Fiesta 1.6, while you can get a full-house Lupini 1.6 3-door Titanium for R239900* including 17” wheels and tyres.
