One of the most striking Land Cruisers to hit South African soil was showcased for the first time this week at the Nampo Harvest Day in Bothaville in the Free State.
The FJ Cruiser, a unique and highly capable 4x4 SUV, is expected to arrive in South African showrooms in August 2011, but visitors to the Nampo Harvest Day have an opportunity to see and experience the uniquely styled SUV at the Toyota stand.
The FJ Cruiser is fitted with a powerful 4 litre V6 petrol engine and boasts retro styling that is reminiscent of its Land Cruiser FJ-predecessors. The vehicle is equipped with a rugged 4x4 system and promises the same go-anywhere off road capabilities that underlies every Toyota that wears a Land Cruiser badge.
“The retro-styled Land Cruiser FJ Cruiser is a fitting introduction to the Land Cruiser range. Its styling harks back to the original Land Cruiser models and we believe that it will be well received in a year in which we join the global celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the first introduction of Land Cruiser,” says Dr. Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of Toyota South Africa Motors and a Managing Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation.
Visitors to the Toyota stand at the Nampo Harvest Day show will also be able to view and experience a range of Land Cruiser products, most notably the recently introduced 60th Edition versions of the Land Cruiser 76 Station Wagon and the Land Cruiser 79 Pick-up. These vehicles sport unique paint colours and a raft of cosmetic and convenience upgrades to spoil the driver and his passengers.
Also present at the Toyota stand is team members of the Toyota Cheetahs rugby team, who are on hand to meet visitors and compare muscle definition with the FJ Cruiser.
Toyota is a proud and long standing exhibitor at the Nampo Harvest Day, which is widely regarded as the largest agricultural machinery and livestock exhibitions in the southern hemisphere. This year more than 70 000 visitors are expected daily at the show, which will be open until Friday 20 May.
