Suzuki Auto SA celebrates more records and milestones

Record-breaking demand for its vehicles during the first half of 2011, and the achievement of an important milestone, have given Suzuki Auto South Africa much reason to celebrate.

Year-to-date Sales of Suzuki Auto SA’s range of passenger cars and SUVs rose by 27,7 percent during the first half of 2011, compared to the same period last year, achieving a sales total of 2 842 units for the first six months of the year.

The marque also achieved an important milestone during this period by selling its 15 000th vehicle since officially opening its doors in South Africa in June 2008.

“We are extremely pleased with the performance of the Suzuki brand in SA,” says Kazuyuki Yamashita, managing director of Suzuki Auto SA. “We are tracking well ahead of forecasted volumes, despite a generally circumspect attitude among buyers.

“The achievement is made even more significant by the fact that we have a relatively small network of just 25 highly dedicated dealers, and that we were hampered by stock shortages in the aftermath of the tsunami disaster in Japan,” he added.

Yamashita-san believes that Suzuki sales will accelerate further, despite the softening trend in the passenger car market. “We’ve just added the Kizashi medium sedan to our range – Suzuki’s first mid-sized contender, and a car that has already raised the bar in its sector abroad.

“We are confident that the arrival of Kizashi will add further impetus to the already highly positive sentiment surrounding the Suzuki brand among SA motoring consumers,” Yamashita concluded.
