Ford has now released the results from their Development Testing, which occurred late last year…
The event took place at the Calabogie Motorsports Park in Canada. The track is 5.05 km long, with 20 corners, designed to push cars to their limit, with a nice blend of slow corners and quick straights. Ford decided to include 2 other “benchmark” supercars in the test, for comparison.
They settled on the ultimate evolutions of 2 very well-respected supercar, the Ferrari 458 Speciale and the McLaren 675LT. Both of which resemble the pinnacle in current supercar technology.
Ford is very proud to point out the fact that their new 482 kW V6 EcoBoost supercar beat both of its contenders on this occasion!
Lap times are as follow:
- Ford GT – 2:09.8
- McLaren 675LT – 2:10.8
- Ferrari 458 Speciale – 2:12.9
All cars were topped-up with new fluids, and had new tyres fitted, with each one’s suspension optimally tuned.
“Our expectation has always been that the EcoBoost V6 would perform exceptionally well in the Ford GT – both in terms of power as well as aerodynamic efficiency,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance.
“We tested and developed this powertrain through the Daytona Prototype race car that ran in IMSA for two seasons, last season racing with Ford GT. We are extremely pleased with how it performs, both on the track and on the road.”
This latest triumph puts the new GT in the top bracket of modern day supercars!
