A few weeks ago, Ford started seeing their R2.5-billion investment start payinf off, as the 1st South African built Everest made its way to be sold in Kenya.

On November 12, the Moondust Silver Everest 2.2 XLT 4X4 was loaded onto a ship in Durban, from where it would be destined for Mombasa. From here it will make its way to a local Kenya Ford dealer.

This Everest, built in the Silverton Assembly Plant, marks the start of a big exporting programme.

Currently the Silverton plant is running a full 2-car production line, the Everest and Ranger. These cars are built for both domestic- and exporting purposes.

A total of 8 derivatives are being built, with all trim-levels available, as well as 2.2- and 3.2-litre Duratorq motors on offer.
